Problem Child, by Sam Hall, touched on something my family knows really well, a child with extra/special/etc needs, and reproductive issues. ASD, PCOS and Endometriosis runs in my family, the way that red hair and freckles run in some Irish families. I always wanted kids, but my body made my choice for me. A choice, that to this day, I still have hard days because of.

Sam takes these topics, and speaks about them with such love, care, etc. that even though they are hard topics, they work very well. Now, miscarriage, as well as adoption, and abortion are touched on, in the first part of this book. So, if this is a sensitive topic, please proceed with care. But, again, Sam does a wonderful job, talking about these topics though.

When I originally read the first nine chapters, I fell in love with each character, and hoped that Sam would give us a full book about them. That love, continued throughout the whole 61 chapters. Now, that does not mean that there was not a character here or there that you are meant to hate. Because there is. And there is a lot to hate there.

But, just like the characters you love, the ones you hate, are so multi leveled. Loosing parents, abuse from the one male parent you have left, the demand of alphas to find omegas, etc. all play such interesting roles, in creating the five MMC. That, even in hating Logan from the moment he is introduced, my heart broke for him. Broke for all five of them. But, broke for Lily and Evie the most.

If you are into Omegaverse romances, then you already know that Alphas mate and have kids only with Omegas. Beta’s which Lily, our FMC is, are like normal humans. They have no wolf, can not shift, can not go into heats, etc. So, when Lily and Ben hand their fun all those years ago, neither one thought a child was possible.

This book for me, is about way more then just a whoops baby. It is about finding your family, which is not always blood. About healing from trauma you may not even realize you have. Fighting against expectations, and finding yourself.

Now, you may not see any of that in this book, but, I have a feeling that more of you will, than not. Sam always has this way of integrating healing, and teaching moments, into their writing, but in such ways that you’re not beaten over the head by it.

Of course, like any Omegaverse, there is love, there is sex, and knotting. But, there is something else here, an app where Alphas, look for one night stands. Sign me up. Please, and thank you. Especially if Reed is one of my hookups.

Btw, I would read stories just about the fun that app gives people.

5/5 stars.

I really enjoyed seeing multiple women in this book who cold hold their own.      This book at times reminded me of Special Unit 2, the TV Show. In it you have cops who protect good cryptids, but Judge/Jury/Etc. ...
